I am Sister Alta Emile, and for the past 30 years, my life has been devoted to faith, education, and uplifting others. As a member of the Institute of the Companions of Jesus Christ in Haiti since 1994, my journey has been one of service, love, and a deep commitment to the future of our youth and children.
For nearly 18 years, I have had the honor of working with young girls and boys at the University of Notre Dame D’Haiti. It is a privilege to be part of their educational journey and to help guide them as they strive for their dreams. Through a scholarship program I run, many have found the opportunity to continue their higher education and open doors that were once closed due to poverty and financial hardship.
I believe that education is the key to transforming lives. By promoting higher education for youth and children, whether through vocational training or university degrees, I strive to provide the tools that allow them to rise above their circumstances and build a better future for themselves. Empowering these young souls, particularly girls, is not just my work, it is my passion, my calling.
In each student’s success, I see not only a personal triumph but a hope for our community and our country. By giving them the gift of education, I am not just offering knowledge, but also the power to dream, to achieve, and to inspire others. My deepest hope is that through education, these youths and children will go on to change their world, just as they have changed my heart.
